MUNICH

Since 2008 I’ve had the pleasure of visiting this fantastic town a few times, always in work but always trying to take the best of it in the free time I had (late afternoons, and some weekends), this time the time was short. I can tell you it surprised me a lot the first time I went there and it’s now one of my favorite cities… I believe it has plenty to offer anyone who has the opportunity to visit it. In order to enjoy it the most I once went there in holidays, so I could see what it’s not possible when you are working…
Since I’ve just returned from a new incursion to this beautiful place I’ve decided to share some of my favorite spots with you, with my pics selection throughout the years.:)
Here goes my MUNICH Top 8!

Aqui fica o meu Top 8 Munique!

TOP 8 – Schloss Nymphenburg

TOP 7 – Frauenkirche

TOP 6 – Dachau

Concentration camp near Munich – will make a post just for this one

TOP 5 – Neuchwanstein

A beautiful castle near Munich – will dedicate a post just for this one also

The oldest Brewster in Bavaria, it’s a mandatory stop… you can have dinner, or simply go for a drink, have a look at it… it’s worth it… the music, the employees, the spirit of everyone around you… (and it has a capacity of 1300 people and every time I went there it was not an easy task to get a place… amazing)!

TOP 3 – Marienplatz

The City Center!
O centro da cidade! :)

TOP 2 – Englischer Garten

It’s a huge park in the center of Munich (talk about Central Park in NY… this is even bigger…) and it offers you a lot of history inside it besides all the green… with a little bit of Japanese, Greek and Chinese style… and you may believe it or not… in the Summer you can do Surf … everything is possible in the Englischer Garten!! :)

TOP 1 – Olympiapark

The Olympic Games that took place in Munich in 1970 were here… these are the infrastructures, amazing in my point of view for more than 40 years!!! Love this place! It’s a mandatory stop whenever I have to come to Munich!

In 2009 in my Twilight Saga Reading/ Em 2009 no vicio da saga Twilight :P

Last, let me share the latest addition to my collection…

What about you? Ever been to Munich? Like it? What is your favorite?
E vocês? Alguma vez foram a Munique? Gostaram? O que preferiram?

HALA MADRID & PARQUE WARNER

O Parque do Retiro!

Se quiserem tirar ideias vão ao site: http://www.parquewarner.com/

First of all let me say that after visiting Barcelona, I don’t believe that I will find in Spain any other city that will be able to match or exceed my passion for the Catalan city (promise a special post)!
But let’s talk now about my visit to the Spanish capital, Madrid! "Hala Madrid" :)

We went to Madrid to visit the Warner Park and of course, once there we took the opportunity to visit the city as well. The city itself is not one that I can say that has enchanted me. If anyone asks me I honestly can't say I recommend it (so many other fantastic cities I've been that I have to recommend before I reach this one) but there was one point that I liked. Retiro Park! I think this huge park in the middle of the city is awesome, with so many charming corners, a "Crystal Palace" (cuter than ours – we have one in Porto too) and a lake with rowing boats and everything. Once again it shows, as I have seen in some of the major European cities, that it is possible to have an extremely pleasant outdoor space in the middle of a town ... that allows you to feel that you are in another world just by being there (you can find it in London, Munich, Madrid, Barcelona ...).

The visit to the Warner Park was a blast! To see Daffy Duck (or in good Spanish, Pato Lucas), Tweety (aka Piolin), Sylvester, Bugs Bunny… It was so warm that we were always running for the activities that had water ... we had such a great time and laughed a lot ... I recommend the "Rio Bravo", " Cataratas Salvajes”, “Rápidos Acme”... Also here there are many roller coasters ... not for me ... I value too much my health :P ... but I can say that my friends came crazy with "Superman", "Coaster Express" and the two craziest (because it is not for anyone ...), "La Venganza" ... Two extremely funny days! :)

LAGOS

I’m back after Easter long weekend in Algarve, South of Portugal where though I did not have the best of the weather, at least we got a beautiful sun! :)
This time I visited a couple of places in Algarve and the one I liked the most was with no question, Lagos!
I have a couple of vague memories of being there a long time ago but I did not recall it was such a lovely, small town. I totally recommend you if you have the opportunity to go there an afternoon, or even an evening.
We lunched at a restaurant called D. Henrique and we were very pleased with the meal and the service, just a suggestion. ;)
To be honest, I will let the pictures I took that I believe speak for themselves.
Hope you like it!!
XOXO

XOXO

ASIA – Preparing a trip

My next holidays (June) are already scheduled… Asia! It will be my first visit to the Orient and I will be wandering through Macau, Hong Kong, Zuhai and Bangkok… :) Yes, I’m getting pretty excited! :)
I have to admit the Orient never called me that much, but I have a good friend that lives in Macau and for years now she’s teasing me I’m always visiting a lot of new places and never her. Well, this year I gained the courage I was missing (mainly the thought of the flight) and bought everything I needed before I had the chance to think twice. And now I have the plane ticket to Macau, and my friend already arranged our trip to Bangkok, I’m getting really curious!
During the preparation I found out (some friends told me) that when we are travelling to these kind of destinations we should schedule a traveler appointment to see if we need any special vaccination and all the special cares needed. Well, I made my appointment I went yesterday to the doc. Good news, the places I’m traveling don’t have any tropical diseases associated and are considered pretty safe, so I just had to take two vaccines, influenza and hepatitis A. And then it was only a lot of recommendations: only bottled water (even to wash the teeth), no salads in the streets or weird restaurants so we avoid the so called traveler’s diarrhea and to do a health insurance for the trip in the site from lonely planet (since I’m traveling kind of like a nomad): www.worldnomads.com
So, 2 months and 10 days to go and so far:

• health part – check
• flights – check
• hotel in Bangkok – check
• route for the 2 weeks – on going
• exchange cash – 2 weeks before the travel
• health insurance – thinking if I should

What am I missing and shouldn’t?

:) Sim, estou a ficar ansiosa! :)

Resumo, 2 meses e 10 dias a contar e:

• Consulta do Viajante - check

WINDSOR

This time we will travel to the Windsor Castle.
When I went to London to see Porto play (and loose) against Chelsea I decided to visit Windsor and of course the famous Castle. Early in the morning we went to catch the train in the Waterloo station and in a trip of around 40 minutes we arrived at our destination (with a good chat or book, time flies). :)
Then there is no mistake, when we leave the station the castle is easy to find. To reach the gate of the castle we have a long walk to do.
For me the fact that the monument is medieval (built in XI century) and still residency of the royal family makes it a remarkable place. It is filled with story in every corner!
Once there is a lot to see since the place is huge… the gardens, the Round Tower, the Norman Gate, among others…
Once in town you should not miss the Eton College.
Here are some photos… see you soon! ;)
